Alibaba Teams Up with Huawei to Let Alipay Wallet Users Pay with Just Their Fingerprint


Alibaba has struck a deal with smartphone manufacturer Huawei to introduce Alipay into a soon-to-be-launched smartphone. The Mate 7, will have “chip-level security” and fingerprinting technology to enable better secured payment services. Alipay faces fierce competition from Tencent’s payment service, Tenpay.

Baidu Said to Invest in Indoor-Mapping Startup


Baidu Inc. (BIDU), China’s largest web-search service is investing about $10 million in IndoorAtlas Ltd. to expand mapping services inside buildings and shopping centers presumably to step up its competition with Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. IndoorAtlas is the world’s first to use magnetic anomalies inside buildings to pinpoint indoor locations.

Alibaba Teams Up with U.K. Business Body to Fight Fakes


Following the new initiative with the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition (IACC) earlier this year, Alibaba Group Holding steps up its efforts to tackle counterfeits by cooperating with the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) to curb products that allegedly infringe intellectual property rights. Fake goods can be found on sale across all of Alibaba’s platforms, particularly on Taobao and Alibaba.com.
